After the five Ford tractors and one Mollne tractor had ploughed several acres of earth, to a. depth. oC seven. Inches and at a rate. of two and a. halt miles per hour. Mayor Browning". Judge A. R. Heywood, O. J. Slllwell. Prcaton Thcmas and "L. 1 Kiielpp expressed ex-pressed their opinions cf tho work done by the tractors. Judge Heywood stated that the only fault he could find with the tractors was that they would permit the farmers farm-ers to remain In bed after -t a. m., which Is unusual for a farmer during-ploughing during-ploughing season. Mayor Browning compared tho use of tho tractor to agriculture with the . automobile to transportation. He stat ed that tho advantages wero equally as great. The muyor said that. In the. early days of Utah. Ms wife occupied two days ia traveling from Ogden to Salt Lake, while now one can. niako. the I trip In scventv.flve minutes. Mr. Browning stated that, la his opinion the tractor would mean tho same aav-! aav-! Lnc oC time to the fanner. , O. J. Stllwell of tho Ogden Publicity Public-ity bureau surprised tho farmers who wero present when ho quoted figures showing that a man behind tho plough talked 52S0 miles to plough one square milo of ground. L. F. Knelpp, the forcatry service, qalckly saw new uco lor the tractor. His interest In tho improvement, of public roads caused him to sec the value of the tractor for the improvement improve-ment of the roads In front of a man's ranch. He showed that a farmer could easily improvo the value of his prop-orty prop-orty by spending a fow hours dracglng the road aftor the days' work had been jdpne. He sayc the new machine is a frst-clasa road implement. One of the impressive features t the demonstration was the 3Ppa ease with which Miss Marian Bro , ing ploughed several acros of , to a depth of seven Inches. n zs ; to enjoy -the agricultural worK . After the program of speeches, ice cream and Becco were served as refreshments. re-freshments. The Binford-Kimball Motor company com-pany furnished transportation to the Ritter farm. The tractor has been completed to the point where it has become a farm implement of very great importance and the demonstration yesterday proved prov-ed quite conclusively that it is a device de-vice of dependability and efficiency meeting the expectations of expert machinists and the farmers of the country. The plowing yesterday offered of-fered by tho Fordson Tractor indicated indicat-ed that the machine is a great saver of Umo and expense and that the soil may be turned over as perfectly as It has ever been done by team work; it also Indicated that "old hoss" and the hand plow, together with the sulky sul-ky plow, must go and that such means ' of plowing has about reached tho end, except, perhaps, on small farms where time, expediency 'and economy are not work. Speaking of economy farm servlco Messrs Binford and Kimball of the Binford-Kimball Motor company say that there is a large field opening for the farm tractor and that It is especially es-pecially a very valuable implement under un-der the stress of war times. Mr. Bin-ford Bin-ford has the following to say: "There are a number of very fine tractors offered the farmer in the general gen-eral uplift in his lino of business. As an economy feature all tractors aro of especial value in farm work and it is money In every man's pocket who has a farm, of average or large size to use tho tractor. It goes without saying, say-ing, however, that we have great faith in the Fordson and feel that Mr. Ford has built a machine that excells all others in real practicability and saving sav-ing qualities. Experts have exorcised their greatest and best genius in building build-ing the machine and we have not yet found any material defect in the mo chanism. Every care has been taken to make tho machine as nearly perfect as possible in so far as proper plowing plow-ing Jn all kinds of farm soil Is concerned. con-cerned. It Is a speedy machino in tho plowing sense, economical in the consumption con-sumption of gas and oil, and the maintenance main-tenance of all its parts. It is a pleasure pleas-ure to operate the tractor and it is so simple and easy of manipulation that a child, or a woman, can handle IL In the demonstration yesterday MJss Browning drovo the machine with tho greatest of case. "Tho government today is urging the use of all man-power and time-saving time-saving devices in the Industrial work of the country and wo aro desirous of lending a helping hand Jn the movo-menL movo-menL We feel it a patriotic service and duty in offering tho Fordson tractor trac-tor to the farmer and we are certain that its use will greatly aid In the work at hand in tho industrial world."
