Peter .n today re quested The Standard :o publish, for j the benefit of all concerned, chapter 94 of the prohibition bill, an act re- llating to the sale, shipment and delivery deliv-ery of intoxicating liquors In dry ter ritory The act is printed below "Through the press." said Sheriff Peterson, "I desire to give fair and final warning to everyone that it is my unalterable purpose to enforco th prohibition law, In keeping with my oath of office, with the utmost rigor , without favor to anyone, high or low." ! The law follows: I "Be it enacted by the Legislature ot j i the State of Utah: i j "Section 1. It shall be unlawful! for any person to carry, iransport or haul any in i oxica I ing liquors Into dry' J territory within this state; provided, that the terms of this section shall not i apply to any sales of such liquors to !a licensed pharmacist or druggist or I scientific and manufacturing institu-' ! tion in the ordinary course of trade, j or to sales of grain alcohol Tor sclen-' sclen-' liflc or manufacturing purposes by wholesale druggists, or to a quantity of such liquors not to exceed sixteen ounces for personal use of the party so carrying. "If any peace officer shall have prob, able cause to believe any person in dry territory has on or about his per-son, per-son, in any kind of receptacle or in any vehicle under his control, intoxi-! eating liquors in excess of sixteen ounces, for the purpose of violating! this .section, such peace officer shall have authority to examine such vehicle ve-hicle and receptacle and the con- icuib iieieoi, anu me nnisning or any intoxicating liquors in the possession! of any such person, or under his com trol, in any quantity in excess of six-! teen ounces, shall be prima facie evi l dence that such liquors were being I carried unlawfully, and such person shall be forthwith arrested and such liquors seized and held by such officers. of-ficers. Upon conviction of' any person j for violation of any provisions of this j section, such person shall be punished ! y 8 flne of not more than $299 00 or by imprisonment for not more than I , six months or by both such fine and be declared forfeited by the court, and shall be publicly destroyed by such officer as the court may designate. This act shall not be construed in any wise to repeal or modifv that cer. tain act. entitled: "An Act to define, prohibit and re-ulate the sale, manufacture, manu-facture, use. advertising of, possession of, or traffic in intoxicating liquor, malt or brewed drinks, providing for ! its enforcement, and providing pen- jj alties and remedies for its violation; ' and repealing Chapter 106, of the Laws Of Utah, 1911, Chapter 70 and 80 and M 83 Ol the Laws of Utah.
