Show oo AMERICA IN WORLD'S WAR WASHINGTON, May 21. High school commencement exercises should emphasize America's position in the world war, said P. P. Claxton, United States commissioner of education, educa-tion, in a letter to school principals made public today. "No proper occasion occa-sion should be neglected," he wrote, "to give our people in every community, commun-ity, however isolated or apathetic, a firm grasp of tho reasons that have moved a great nation to see that the issues of this struggle are vital to our own safety and to tho preservation of democracy." The commissioner suggested that if no special patriotic speaker be obtained obtain-ed at least the essential pasages from President Wilson's war address to congress be read. |
