United m ' States Senator Harry Lane of Oregon. H died at a hospital here late tonight H from a nervous disorganization pro- B duced by a blood clot on tho brain. m Senator Lane was stricken -while in H Washington. He stopped here on his H way to his home in Portland to re- H ' cuperate. Last Thursday he was tak- H en to a hospital, and on Monday the H doctors pronounced the case hopeless. fl i Senator Lane was 62 years old. He M i is survived by his widow and two M daughters, Mrs. Nina Lane McBrlde H of Washington, D. C, and Mrs. Har- H I riet Lane Hicks of Norfolk. Va. M y Senator Lane was the son of an Or- H J egon pioneer, having been born at Cor- H - vallls. He was a graduate of the med- H I ical department of Willamette univer- H I sity and practiced medicine for many H years. Prior to his election as sena- H j tor he was mavor of Portland from j i 1905 to 1907. H I He was the last man elected to the 1 United States senate from Oregon by H a legislature, although the legislature H carried out tho wishes of voters who H gave him a majority in the election of H , November, 1912.
