Show no HIHD TO DEATH Several hours following her recovery recov-ery from tho anaesthetic administered in connection with an operation for tho removal of her tonsils, littlo Johanna Jo-hanna D. Evertson was taken with a fit of coughing in tho office of Dr. R. E. Worrell yesterday evening and choked to death, despite heroic efforts ef-forts on the part of the surgeon, a trained nurse and tho use of a pul-motor. pul-motor. She-was tho daughter of Dirk and Jacoba V. Evertson of 2931 Van Buren avenue, and was 3 years of age. Her death was ascribed to pulmonary odema the settling in the lungs of a quantity of mucous. Tho child was brought to the sur geon's office yesterday morning by her aunt, a trained nurse of the Dee hospital hos-pital corps, and other relatives. After the usual preliminaries, her tonsils were removed and she recovered readily from the anaesthetic. She was then placed on a cot in tho office and remained there throughout the day. talking cheerfully with her aunt and parents. Early in the evening tho parents decided de-cided to tako her home, as she appeared ap-peared to havo fully recovered. She was being carried from tho office when Dr. Worrell, who had been out on another caso, returned. Looking at the child, ho noticed that she appeared ap-peared to bo having trouble in breathing breath-ing and that her face had a dark tinge As he approached to make a closer examination, she was taken with a choking cough. Realizing that her condition was serious, tho surgeon Immediately telephoned tho city fire department for Its pulmotor and then, with the assistance of tho nurso, began be-gan to work on tho child.
