FIGHT FOR EXISTENCE - Outside Interests Must Not Prevent a Peace That Will Satisfy German Aspirations. London. Jan. 19. 9:15 a. m A d-mand d-mand that neutral Interests shall not be allowed to interfere with Germany's struggle for victory was made at the opening of the Prussian diet yesterday by Herr Frledberg, leader of tho National Na-tional Liberty party, according to an Amsterdam dispatch to Reuters. Herr Frledberg was one of a number num-ber of speakers who urged a vigorous prosecution of the war and the sub-, marine activity. He said: "He must expect from every neutral that he do not lay stress on his own j interests where for us it is a fight fori existence. Such interests must not prevent us from gaining a peace that; will satisfy German aspirations and safeguard the world from new and Similar catastrophes." Paul Breitenbach. Prussian minister Of public Works, who made a speech along similar lines, said: "The gigantic events of ihe war. necessarily affects state machinery. The government and parliament must! come to an understanding and a settlement set-tlement but there can be no question thai the ntiro state machinery needs a fundamental change. We demnnd that everybody do his utmost for the fulfillment of his dut in order to help our armies to victory." |
