Show The Week's Social News j 1 INTERESTING EVENT AT ECCLES" HOME One of the prettiest events of the week was held at the beautiful home of Mrs. David Eccles last Wednesday afternoon. The guests were old school, j mates of Mrs. Eccles, all students of the late Prof. Louis P. Moflch Thf Eccles' home was prettily decorated dec-orated with daffodills and ferns and other cut flowers. Vases of the flowers flow-ers adorned the tables, and place cards of miniature dolls dressed in old fashioned fash-ioned gowns with the maiden names of the guests written upon them were before each guest's plate. A perfectly perfect-ly prepared luncheon was s rved. During the afternoon the guests enjoyed en-joyed Victrola selections, which included in-cluded many of the old time selections, selec-tions, among them bfing songs by Mc-Cormack Mc-Cormack and Caruso. A pleasing feature fea-ture of the afternoon's entertainment was the sewing hour. Each lady was given yam and needles and became busy ticing comforters for thp soldiers, a number of those present taking their work home to finish. Mrs. Karen Jensen, Jen-sen, aged 92 years, mother of Mrs. Eccles, Ec-cles, was present, and the guests were shown two silk comforters made by her from silk neckties. The entire comforters were made by hnnd by Mrs. Jensen. A silk quilt with line lace Insertion, In-sertion, all the handiwork of Mrs. Jensen, was also exhibited. Among the interesting amateur entertainments en-tertainments of the season will be the presentation of the four-act comedy, "Betty's Perplexities," next Thursday and Friday nights In the Eleventh ward amusement hall. The play will be staged under the direction of T. Earl Pardoe, who has also directed the rehearsals, and under the auspices of the ward mutual improvement associa-I associa-I tions. Worthington, 429 Herrick avenue, last Thursday afternoon. The ladies brought their needlework and spent a busy hour, after which luncheon was served by the hostess. The next meeting meet-ing of the club will be held at the home of Mrs. Harry Allen at her apartment apart-ment in the Browning on tyaahlpi ton avenue. ENTERTAINMENT. Clara Barton division was hostess to Division No. 55 last Monday :tt the I. O. O. F. hall. Tables seating the members mem-bers and their guests woe presided over by Mesdames Halsted. Smith. Lucas, Lu-cas, Vicks and Shields. Speeches prevailed pre-vailed throughout the luncheon and various torms of entertainment followed follow-ed the adjournment from the dining room. GARN EAU-WISE. A pretty home wedding took place Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock, when the Rev. J. E. Carver united in marriage mar-riage Josie Garneau, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis T. Garneau. to Jopeph Wise. Both are well known young ! people of Ogden. The bride was gowned in white silk crepe de chlno. trimmed with georgette geor-gette crepe and with silk tulle wed ding veil, crowned with orange blossoms. blos-soms. She carried- a bouquet of bridal bri-dal roses. The only jewel worn by the bride was a diamond cross and chain. th gift of the groom. The groom wore la black suit, with buttonhole bouquet of oranyf blossoms The bridesmaid, M 1 - Rernirp Garneau. sister of the bride, was gowned in pink silk, trimmed trim-med with georgette crepe She wore a wreath of pink carnations in her hair and carried a bouquet of pink 'carnations. Mr. Leroy Chapman acted as best man. Thf wedding mareh was played by the bride's sister, Mrs. Sylvia Syl-via Shade She was dressed in white satin, with overdress of beaded white chiffon, with corsage bouquet of white carnations The bridal party descended the stairway as tbe wedding march was bing played, Rev. J. E. Carver in the lead, followed by the bridesmaid and best man. the bride and groom. The party formed in the double parlors. Which were prettily decorated for the occasion, and Rev. Carver spoke the impressive double ring ceremony. Fol lowing the ceremony refreshments were served. DANCE AT H U NTS V I LLE Hringing to a close a series of social affairs said to have been best attended attend-ed and enjoyable ever held in IkiIii valley, the Hunteville Quorum of Seventy Sev-enty held a highly successful dancing party in the ward hall. Tbe young folks of the ward were init-- and the result was a crowd of congenial proportion as to age and number. Hie program of dances was plea Ingly dnrsified and included quadrilles, qua-drilles, Virginia reels, one-steps, fox trots and waltzes. Bishop's Counselor Angus McFarland. in a brief talk, announced' an-nounced' that arrangements had been made for a course of Lessons in modern I dancing to be given In the ward hall fining the next two months. The principles of modern dancing were explained ex-plained by Alonzo Wes who: with his sifter, Miss Florence West, then gave a demonstration of the standard:' d one-step and fox-trot, the military three-step, and, by special request, the waltz. This demonstration was the most interesting feature of the evening and each dance presented was enthusiastically enthusi-astically applauded. Wild cherry punch was served during dur-ing the evening, under the direction of Krnest McKay, this also being an appreciated ap-preciated treat SURPRISE PARTY. Last Monday evening a very pleasant pleas-ant surprise party was given In honor of Billy Wilson at his home, 043 Sixteenth Six-teenth street, by a number of his friends. Mr, Wilson left Tuesday for Canada, where he will make his home for some time. The evening was spent in games, dancing and music, solos being furnished fur-nished by Mrs. Arlie Blakeley. At a late hour a very delicious repast was served by Mrs. Yv uson, assisted by Mrs. Conrad Hansen.
