Show oo PEOPLE KILLED AT A CROSSING FAIRFIELD. Iowa. March 28 Three were killed and two injured when a fast passenger train on the Burlington hit an automobile at the Eighth street grade crossing hero this afternoon. The dead. C. C. CARL, aged 48. D. C. WOLLETT, aged 53. EARL HODGEN, aged 38. The injured: C W. Hodgen, aged 3S. Dal Howell, aged 30. The men were on their way to the country to work and because of buildings build-ings and box cars near the track did not see the approaching train until they were twenty-five feet away. They applied the brakes, but the car slid onto tho tractc and the train hit tho rear of the automobile. Young Hodgen was thrown eighty test and was probably prob-ably dead before he struck the ground. oo |
