Show oo BOUGHT CLOTHES INSTEAD OF DRINK Dressed as a common laborer, a man from Idaho, as he ate breakfast, inquired where he could buy a suit of clothes. Prior to August 1, the worker from Idaho who came to Ogden, did not have time to eat and he seldom thought of clothes. Traveling over the dusty roads made many a man dry, and this oasis caused him to seek out the quenching draught. By the time the thirsty fellow had administered to his appetite, he was without money to buy anything and clothes were the least of his worriers. This seeking out of the clothier is a straw which shows the way the wind blows. Strangers arriving in Ogden today are spending their dollars with the merchants who deal in things to wear and eat, and those lines of business busi-ness are profiting by the changed conditions. con-ditions. A merchant reported todayithat his sales for September were much larger than for the same period last year, and he was. of the opinion the Increased trade was attributable, in part at least, to the driving -out of strong drink. |
