Tho address began at 2:30 o'clock after the Commoner had been introduced by C. C. Richards as ono of America's greatest Democrats. Ap- plause greeted the orator from the fl body of the theater and from the stage jH as well, where prominent Democrats from Ogden, Salt Lake and other parts of tho state were seated. Conspicu-ous Conspicu-ous among those on the stage was Simon Bamberger, Democratic noml-nee noml-nee for governor. Mr. Bryan's addrpss was the open-ing open-ing gun of the Democratic campaign in Utah. Mr. Bamberger and other prominent Democrats on the state fl ticket, together with B. H. Roberts will continue the oratorical artillery this week, explaining advantages to be derived from a change to a Demo- 'H cratlc administration in this state. The private car "Salt Lake," in which Mr. Bryan and his party trav-eled trav-eled from the west, was a part of Southern Pacific passenger train No. 20. . The train arrived on scheduled time at 12:55. Mr. Bryan did not VM leave his seat in the car for about 15 minutes after the train had pulled into thfi terminal. IH Applauso greeted him when he emerged. About 200 people, in addi-tion addi-tion to those comprising the reception committee, had assembled at tho de pot W. W. Tho crowd that greeted Bryan filled Alhambra Theatre and was larger and more enthusiastic than the Hughes gathering of a month ago. Theater Is Packed. The Alhambra theater was packed. The main auditorium had filled several sever-al minutes before the appointed time for the address to begin. Tho people continued entering tho theater until every seat In the balcony and gallery was taken. Mr. Bryan entered the stage from the rear. His appearance was tho signal for prolonged applause. The organist played tho "Star Spangled Span-gled Banner." The assembly stood. Prolonged applause then broke into a chorus of cheers. When the tumult had subsided Ma-thonihah Ma-thonihah Thomas.
