Show uu DEATH OF LABORER DUE TO ELEMENTS. Cache Junction, Feb. 18. After hearing tho testimony of several employes em-ployes who witnessed the death oi Valentino Stefano, n laborer, 42 years of age, employed by the Oregon Short Lino railroad company, who was killed by a snowslide while working in the Bear River canyon February 3, the board of Inquiry, which convened this afternoon in the local offices of tho company, decided that the death was due to weather and other conditions beyond the control of the company. At the time of the accident, Stefano, together with other laborers, wa3 clearing snow from the track in the canyon where a snowslide had just previously occurred. A second slide camo down the mountain while the men were at work, covering the track to tho depth of twelve feet and carrying carry-ing Stefano down tho bank at the side of the track and into the canal which borders the track at this point It Is thought that he was drowned immediately. im-mediately. The board was composed of O. E. Smith, trainmaster; E. Holt, roadmastor; W. H. Griffin, representing represent-ing the public, and H. L. Borgholt-haus, Borgholt-haus, agent |
