Show AUTQ OURS MOST SECURE STATE LICEiSE Suggestion that agents of tho state road commission and county road supervisors sup-ervisors act as special agents in reporting re-porting automobile owners who have not bought 1916 license tags or their cars is a plan Secretary of State David Mattson has under consideration for collection of the remainder of the tax. A quarterly report being prepared in the office of the secretary of state, and which will be completed today, will show approximately $50,000 has been paid to the stale since January 1 for 1016 automobile licenses. This represents about 0000 cars. Mr. Mattson believes that tho total number of autos to bo used In Utah this season will reach 12,000, and that the revenue to the state from the license li-cense tax will amount to nearly $100,-000. $100,-000. Automobile owners in tho outlying districts are said to be among the most dilatory citizens In paying the automobile tax. Regular peace officers offi-cers are instructed to warn auto owners own-ers that they must buy the state license li-cense tags, but Secretary Mattson would like to augment that force of "special agents." He believes the road supervisors and attaches of the state road commission would be in a good position to "spot" cars which are being run without licenses It is probable that the secretary of state will take the matter up with the road commission and with county commissioners. |
