Show TRAGEDY FOLLOWS ' IM1CE 1 1 .nn TH Twin Falls, Idaho, April 6. Lying in a sheltered, secluded spot in Rock Creek canyon at tho edge of town, as though In peaceful sleep, but cold in death, the body of Miss Lulu Frakes, 42 years old, a well-known graduate nurse In the Twin Falls hospital for tho past two years, was discovered at 10:20 tills morning by boy scouts assisting as-sisting 200 citizens in searching for the missing nurse. Under her head was pillowed the coat she had worn, her cheek rested on her right hand, and grasped in her left hand was her watch. She had been missing since 2 o'clock Tuesday nfternoon. At that time, weary from close attention to a patient pa-tient seriously III, she was urged to rest for two hours. She decided to take a walk, and, putting on n light coat, left tho hospital, cheerily waving wav-ing her hand to other nurses. She did not appear to bo despondent, but when she failed to return by nightfall night-fall the hospital force became worried and spent some time trying to locate her. They resumed their Inquiries the cext morning, and, becoming alarmed, notified officers, who spent the romalndor of tho day quietly searching. Last night announcement was made at the automobile show, picture shows and church gatherings and men urged to report at 9 this morning for organized organ-ized searching. More than 200 responded, re-sponded, and groups of men and boy scouts wero sent to Rock Creok and Snako River canyons Blowing of factory whistles finally apprised searching parties that the body was found Miss Frakes was a capable nurse and loved by all who. knew her Assisted As-sisted by the hospital force, she was happily engaged In preparing her trousseau for her marriage this month to a Rogcrson man, supposedly her fiance, who however, since the tragedy, trag-edy, denies that he was ever engaged to her. On tho day of her disappearance disappear-ance it was known sho had received a letter, the contents of which, while not confided In them, nurses state notified her that tho engagement was broken because of his engagement to a girl in Scotland. An autopsy was performed today and tho stomach and contents sent to Boise for examination. No marks or conditions of any other nature were discovered that would solve the mystery, mys-tery, other than the possibility that she" drank poison is she met death by her own hand. Officers are investigating circumstances circum-stances and coincidences for possible foul play. Miss Frakes's father, H. C. Frakes, Is a prominent cattleman of Three-Mile Three-Mile creek, near the Nevada line, where the stepmother and two brothers broth-ers also live The sister, Mrs. Lloyd Reynolds, and her husband came yesterday yes-terday to assist in the search. |
