The Weber, acadomy won another important victory last night, when Its representatives defeated those from Hie Brigham Young colloge at Logan in the annual Inter-high school debate. de-bate. Tho victorious debatora were Leland Evans and Ernest Wilkinson and tho visiting team was composed of Georgo Hickman and Leroy Hansen William Glasmann presided as chairman chair-man of the meeting, which was held in tho Weber academy nuditprlum and tho judges were Supt E. S. Hick-loy Hick-loy of tho Utah State Industrial School; Attorney W. R. Skecn and Judge W. H. Recder, Jr. The question debated was "Should the United States Abandon tho Monroe Doctrine," tho Woberitos taking the negative side and the B. Y. C. debaters tho affirmative. af-firmative. Professors L II. Peterson and L. W. Merrill accompanied the latter team to Ogden. All of tho speakers presented carefully care-fully prepared arguments, with forceful force-ful eloquence, but tho decision of tho Judges was unanimous for tho Wober team. oo |
