Show iralELHSTS IN 10 IS SENTENCED TO JAIL I This morning Mayor A. R. Heywood exercised his pardoning prerogative j for the first time when he recommended recom-mended that Bud Brown, who was confined in the city jail for petit larceny, lar-ceny, be given a complete pardon. Commissioner Chris Flygare, the only other member of the board of commissioners commis-sioners present, concurred in the recommendation rec-ommendation and it was directed that Brown be released. Brown was found guilty of stealing electrical and other material from the Eccles building and was sentenced to serve 20 days. He was formerly an employe in the Eccles building and his pardon was requested bj' William Allison, agent for the Eccles building, and Manager P. M. Parry, of the Utah Light & Power companj', both of whom were of tho opinion that publicity pub-licity was punishment sufficient, and the man had served ten days. The application of the Oregon Short Line company for a franchise to place another spur track across Lincoln avenue ave-nue to the American Can factory was referred to the superintendent of streets. It was stated in the application applica-tion that the business of the can company com-pany had increased to such an extent ex-tent that another track is needed. |
