Show GRANITE AND ' JORDAN PLAY First Scorless Battle of Season Is Played by Granite and Jordan Nip and Tuck All Through Game. Salt Lake City, Utah, Nov. 13. In a battle on a snow fieltl, with sand several inches deep, Granite and Jordan struggled for an hour yesterday, yester-day, but neither eleven could score, and the game ended in a Q-to-0 tie. This game is the first scoreless of the season. From start to finish it was nip and tuck, with first one and then the other team having the ball. Bringhurst almost won tho game for Granite In the second period the little end recovered a kick, which Jorgenson fumbled, and raced from the .bixty-yard lino to within five yards of "the goal, only to be tackled by Despain. This saved the day for Jordan. Then, when the two elevens elev-ens Tjattled on the five-yard Jinc, Jordan held like a stone wall and got the hall. This appeared to h.ve awakened them, for they kicked out of danger and the Sandy line hcla firm at every critical stage. Almost Over. Twice Granite worked the ball to the five-yard line, only to meet a stone wall, and Jordan also did likewise like-wise twice. In which the Sandy players play-ers pushed the ball past the five-yard mark. The game was one of the best seen on a high school campus this year, and the two teams seem to be evenly matched Both elevens starred on defense, but on offense the teams did not show so much activity, mainly because of the wonderfully strong lines The Granite backfield, which tore big holes through Urn Ogdcn line a week ago, was exceedingly fortunate to make a single yard at a time, and a Tive-yard gain was an exception. The teams fought hard lo push over at least one touchdown, and no doubt Granite would have tried for more field goals had the field been in bet- |
