Show WINSON BACK FROM EXPERIMENTAL FARM Salt Lake. Aug. 21. Bearing a sheaf of alfalfa burdened with seed pods, Professor L. M. Winsor of the Agricultural college arrived In Salt Lake yesterday from the experimental experimen-tal farm at Malone, Millard county The farm Is jointly conducted by the Agricultural college, the "United States department of agriculture and tho Salt Lake Route. With him Professor Pro-fessor Winsor also brought samples of soudan grass grown In Escalante valley. Tho grass has been recently Introduced into the stato as a substitute substi-tute for alfalfa where the weevil has been troublesome. Though the weevil has not yet appeared in Escalante valley, val-ley, the grass has beon tried there with ontiro success as a forage producer, pro-ducer, according to Professor Winsor. net |
