Show REM IS HELD II SECOND WARD HALL The Second ward meeting house and amusement hall were crowded last night by members and former members mem-bers of the ward, the occasion being the annual ward reunion The affair was arranged by the ward bishopric and officers of the auxiliary associations, associa-tions, and Bishop Robert SfcQuarrie presided. Bishop's Counsellor George Shorten acted aa c hairman of the even ing and the program was conducted I under his direction Til.- opening number was "O, Ye Mountains High," sung by the ward chotr and congregation, under the di-rection di-rection ol loseph Fernelius. The Invocation In-vocation was offered by John McQuar- j rie and a duet was sung by Fsther Harris and Lucille Wilcox Brief talks were made l3 Bishop McQuarrie and President C. P. Middleton and the words of the venerable church leaders seemed to spread a fine spirit of relationship re-lationship and love over the assembly as-sembly Several solos were sung bv Miss Elsie Shorten, a duet was sung by Mis. McQuarrie and C. W, Hincheliff and recitations were given by Mrs. Alfred Caldwell and Mis8 Rachel Middleton Each number was excellently rendered and receicd with hearts- applause. At the close of this pan of the program, pro-gram, the assembly adjourned to the amusement hall, and as the members of it passed "it of the meeting house, each one grasped the hand of Bishop McQuarrie and President Middleton. with a feeding of sincere repard The opening feature of the program in the hall was the service of a nicely appointed light luncheon by the mem hers of the Y. L M. f. A of the word, under the direction of Miss Etta Brown inp, After this had been partaken par-taken of, the remainder of the even-in even-in was passed in dancing and when the hour of midnight arrived, all who had participated in the affair went to their homes, expressing the thought that the evening had been unusually well spent An occurrence of special mention, during the evening, was the presentation presenta-tion of a beautiful oil painting un ler the title "Christ Falling Under the Burden of the Cross," to the ward by Arvld Hedstrom, a local artist. The picture was accepted by the bishop on behalf of the ward and was hung In the meeting house. 00 |
