Francis Edward fttsjohn Crisp, :J3 years old, a promising prom-ising young painter and illustrator, who went to the front with the artists' art-ists' battalion as a corporal and won a commission in the first grenadier guards through gallant conduct, met death last week in the trenches. In 1907 Lieutenant Crisp won the gold medal and traveling studentship of $1000 at the Royal academy for a historical painting. nn |
