Show SPEEDING ON i Hill TO BE STOPPED BY THE CHIEF The use of Twenty-seventh street hill as a speedway for the testing out of (he hill climbing powers of automobiles auto-mobiles running at top speed is to be stopped, according to a statement made by Chief of Police W. I. Norton Nor-ton today. Residents along the street, the chief stated, especially the women, have been made extremely nervous by the reckless driving The lives not only ot the occupants of the cars, but children, chil-dren, who are playing on tho street, and also older pedestrians, have been endangered and though the newly paved hill may be a temptation to the drivers, the chief said the fast driving must be stopped If necessary, neces-sary, he said, he would station an officer of-ficer at a point of vantage to catch the offenders and they would then have a chance to explain their actions ac-tions in the municipal court. |
