Show UTAH PIGEON CLUB SHOW TO BE ANNUAL AFFAIR SMt Lake, Dc 19 The exhibition cf the Utah Pigeon club has proven such a success that arrangements are already under way for a similar hut bigger exhibition at about this time next year J. H. Armstrong, secretary of the club and one of Its active promoters, said last nltrht that the exhibition undoubtedly would be made an annual affair. "There were many birds brought heje from outside places,'' Mr Armstrong Arm-strong said, ' especially from California, Califor-nia, but they didn't get all of the prizes. They brought many varieties of birds that are new to Utah, hut those we had compared favorably Tvith those of the visitors Frank L Weston, who judged the pigeons for us, told me that he considered the show- an unusually good one. The birds, he snld. compared well with those seen In the California shows "We werp disappointed In the disagreeable dis-agreeable weather and we expectpd many visitors, but In spite of the stormy weather, more than 200 visited visit-ed the showrooms during the day, a number of the visitors being women ' We who have arranged for and helped to carry' the show through are well pleased with the manner in which it has been patronized We dfdn't expect a grand rush when the doors were opened and there was no sueh a rush, but there have been from 100 to GOO visitors each day " The gratifying part of it is that the visitors go away interested Many of them come to see a few pretty pigeons and they go away with that desire gratified and also with an Idea of pigeon raising as an Industry rather ra-ther than as a hobby. Many varieties varie-ties of pigeons are chiefly valuable as pets, but some of them are noted for their squabs and are money makers mak-ers from a business viewpoint "Climate and condition could not j bo better for the Industry than they are here and the interest shown in- j dicated to me that pigeon raising is j an Industry that Is going to grow lapidly here Next year Utah will have many moire varieties at the show and I believe there will be many more contestants for honors in each variety." . rr. |
