In speaking of the matter, he said that he has re ouested assistance from bankers, mer chants and other Influential persons to alleviate the suffering of famlllet who are In need of Immediate care I This assistance has been given without with-out Question and several bankers of the city have placed to his credit a stated sum of money to be used by him for extreme distress In this work he ! helped by the Ladles Aid society, the members of which, on his recommeudaUon, take I reeded supplies into many of the homes of the poor. Where household effects as well as food and clothing are needed, calls are inado on some of the second-hand storea and they have always been willing to donate the articles of furniture that were I asked for The assistance received t Judge Gunnell through these dlf- I (erent sources Is appreciated and he I highly commends the generosity of all w-ho so willingly give of their I neanB to the cause of helping the poor. j oo |
