Show 1 FOURTEEN TEAMS STILL IN CONTEST New York, Dec 9. At 11 o'clock last night after 23 hours of racing HJ teams remained in the srx day bicycle bi-cycle contest. Fourteen of these were tied with 612 miles each. Just six laps behind the record. Corry and Walker were next with 511 miles, rino laps and Jvopsky and Keefe last with 511 miles eight laps. Shortly before 8 o'clock Pye, the team mate of Walker was forced to quit the raco owing to knee trouble caused by a spill In the early morning morn-ing hours and three hours later John Bedell decided to stop riding, leaving his partner Corry to team up with Walker who had been Pye's partner. This reduced the field to 16 teams and under the rules of tho contest Pye and Walker were penalized one lap In a sprint which was started by t'lenada and Moran, Kosky and Keefe after 12 minutes of furious riding, rid-ing, lost two laps, putting them a lap behind Pyo and Walker. At J 1 : 1 " o'clock Clarke, Hill and Drobach took a bad tumble in a mix. up and all sprinting was stopped by the bell until un-til the fallen riders or their partners could resume riding. Hill was tho worst injured of the three and had to be carried to a cot at the side of the track, while Clarke and Drobacb . v ere severely shaken up. oo |
