Show UTAH ORATORS WIN DEBATE Provo. March 5 The debating team representing the Brisbam Yoting university uni-versity secured a hard-earned decision over the team from tht; Univcrsitv pf Southern California here tonight. The Brigham Young- university was represented repre-sented by AVIlilam Palmer and Everett Mattoon and the University of Southern South-ern California by David J. Wilson and Charles Schwencke. Neither team had met with defeat prior to last night's contest, which was awarded to the local team by a vote of two to one. The B. Y. U. had the negative side of the question, "Resolved, That tho United States should exempt all United Unit-ed States vessels engaged in coastwise trade passing through the Panama canal from toll charges; the right to exempt such 'vessels being conceded." Arguments were so ably presented by both sides that there was a question ques-tion in the minds of the majority of tho large number of persons present as to whom the decision should be given. Judge A. B. Morgan presided, and Frank B. Stephens, Brigham H. Roberts and Bishop F. S. Spalding of Salt Lake acted as" judges. |
