Speak- jH er Clark signalized his sixty-fourth tM birthday today by denouncing from 'W the rostrum of the house an address by Charles Zucblin of Winchester, M Mass., former professor of sociology in the University of Chicago, assail- M lug the speaker's counting of votes on the report of the committee that in- vestlgated the Mulhall lobby charges, jH Democrats, Republicans and Progres-sives Progres-sives cheered and paid tribute to the speaker when he had finished. Mr. Clark had read to the house a, JM published article quoting Zueblin's at- JM tack on his methods and the alleged fmW arbltran' dictation of the speaker ana also Democratic Leader Underwood. Clark branded Zueblin's statements as "untrue, brazen aud outrageous, ' M and a reflection on the integrity of the house. He quoted the figures of U the Mulhall vote, pointing out that any member wishing to vote had four jH opportunities to do so, and added' "I have been lied about so much, I have sort of -gotten used to it" Representative Mann of Illinois, Re-publican Re-publican leader; Representative Mc-Donald Mc-Donald of Michigan, Progressive; Kep-resentatlve Kep-resentatlve Butler of Pennsylvania, n Republican, aud others joined in cor-roboratlng cor-roboratlng the speaker and paying a tribute to his fairness and honor.
