Show AT THE ORPHEUM The Edison talking motion pictures opened a three-day engagement last night at" the Orphum and a large crowd was entertained by the program pro-gram given. Numbers of spec'nl interest in-terest were a one act musical comedy, a straight comedy entitled "Mrs. Murphy's Mur-phy's horse-shoe," the telling of a number of stories by John J. McGraw. to a young magazine writer, several numbers by the Edison minstrels, an act by a trio of vaudeville singers and comedians and one act of the opera "Fra Diavolo." The contrast botween the talking and silent pictures was shown by the -presentation of a silent picture between two of the other numbers. num-bers. Tho production of the .action and speaking at the same time makes tho illusion almost perfect, tho words being distinctly heard and tlie-'lng-ing for the most part, ajso being heard to advantage. |
