Show Society j HOME CULTURE CLUB NOTES. Yesterday afternoon the Home Culture Cul-ture club met with Mrs. K B. Knapp, 3163 Jefferson avenue, Mrs. Hyruni Smith presiding. The lesson, "The Russo-Japanese War,' was led by Mrs. C. F. Conn. Mrs. T. W. Horn gave an interesting interest-ing review of the subject "Women and Home Life In China." and two i very interesting readings were given giv-en by Mrs. S. C Hawkes. one "The Yangtse' and the other "Lines In- J i scribed on a Fan by a Chinese Court Lady " Following the roll call, discussion on current events in China was general gen-eral The dub had as their guest of honor hon-or Mrs J K. Cooper. SHOWER FOR MISS FARLEY. One of the pretty affairs of the week was the parcel shower given by Mrs. George L. Mortensen at her beautiful home. 274f Madison avenue, ave-nue, Wednesday afternoon In honor of Miss Lorene Parley About 35 ladies were present and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon of mu- l sic and social chatting. The Mortensen home was decorat-1 ed with white carnations and ferns. 1 Potted palms arranged in the hallway hall-way and library, together with masses mass-es of white carnations, made up the color scheme of green and white. Several guests contributed lo the afternoon's entertainment with vocal vo-cal and instrumental music M U.Lucille U.-Lucille Thurman of Salt Lake City gave several interesting readings, after af-ter which a daintily prepared luncheon lunch-eon was served Mrs. Mortensen was assisted by Mrs. J S. Daniels in entertaining. A feature of the afternoon was the opening of the parcels by Miss Far-ley Far-ley An archway formed of carnations carna-tions and ferns had been arranged and upon several small tables placed beneath be-neath It were the parcels.
