That Weber county is supplying its share of the canned goods products of the world's markets is mndc evident evi-dent from the fact that during tho past season the products of the factories fac-tories of this county filled -133,-185 cases This total is from the report of II L Ilorrington of the Utah Canning, Can-ning, company, who is preparing reports re-ports to send to the offlco of the National Na-tional Association of Canners. According Accord-ing to Mr. Herrington. the past sea son was not so good as the previous year, falling 30 per cent below tho output of last year There are 1!G canning factories In the state, most of them in Weber and Davis counties, and the total number of cases produced by these factories follows. Tomatoes, 455,000. Peas, 112,000. String beans, 30,000. Catsup. 10,000. Pumpkin. 2,000. Fruits. 35,000. Miscellaneous, 16,000. Total. 660,000 Of this amount Weber county supplied sup-plied tho following number of cases Tomatoes, 252,534 Peas, 105,217 String beans, 11,100. ' Catsup, 8,559. Pumpkin, 2,110 Fruits, 28,658 Miscellaneous, 25,277. Total. 433.4S5 it is evident from these figure? that Weber county is by far the greatest great-est canning district in the state, pio-duclng pio-duclng more than two-thirds of tho entire state output. ' The farmers of Weber county received re-ceived $302,000 for tomatoes sold to tho factories, and 63,000 for peas The railroad company received $14i, 000 for shipping 825 cars of the can ned products from the county A! though this year roll 30 per cent below be-low that of normal years, tho record Is one to be proud of and points to the fact that tho canning Industry In the vicinity of Ogden is of great im portance. Mr. Herrington slates that the Na tional Association of Canners. has estimated es-timated that 12.000.000 casos of tomatoes to-matoes have been canned this season while there is a demand for 000,000 cases in the United States each month |
