Show POND CREEK HAS EIGHT MINES OPEN Hayden, Stone & Co. have Issued a statement In regard to the Pond Greek Coal company which, although an eastern proposition, numbers many Utah investors as stockholders. The following statemonts aro culled: "About a year ago, or around November No-vember 16, 1011, the Pond Creek Coal company was formed, the property embracing approximately 30,000 acres of lands, located near tho eastern border of Kentucky near the man line of the Norfolk & Western railroadwith rail-roadwith a capitalization of 200,000 shares, having a nominal par valuo of $10. "Previous to tho organization we had these lands very carefully examined exam-ined from every standpoint by the well known geologist and mining engineer, en-gineer, Edward V. dlnvllliers of Philadelphia. Phil-adelphia. In effect he leported that the coal was of very high quality, well adapted to all purposes, especially especial-ly for coking and gas producing plants. "It is essentially a by-product coking cok-ing coal, and Is different from the Island Creek product, which is mainly main-ly a stoam coal. Under a test made by the United Coke &. Gas company, its prosldont, Dr. Schnherlnd, who Is an expert of international reputation In by-product coke making, stated lu effect that the Pond Creek product was one of tho best coking coals he liad evor tested, and he thought was of equal quality, If not superior, to any by-product coal with which it will have to compote. lie roferred to all the test figures as excellent. An analysis an-alysis as to itB chemical constituencies constituen-cies showed 72.94 per cent coke yield hv dry coal ,of which 91.75 per cent was classed as large coke, 2 51 per cent small coke and 2.71 por cent brdeze.
