M., May 2 The weather bureau reports a remarkable landslldo forty miles west of Santa Fe In the Joinoz mountains -which has engulfed a large area. Natives are afraid to approach the brink of tho sink, as treeB and rocks along tho edge are still crumbling away Into the abyss. Large cracks also are opening In the earth north of Jomez Springs. The entire range consists of extfnet volcanoes vol-canoes which were active in recent geological times and has many hot, sulphur, Iron and mineral Bprings and lava flows that destroyed prehistoric, cities and cliff dwellings. Tho woalher bureau also reports an unprecedented snowfall of two to four feet in tho same region A rise of a foot in the Jemez river eveo night in the last two weeks from melting snow Is also reported. |
