Show OPENING OF TWENTY- NINTH ' Tho netltion of E. A. Larkin In bo-half bo-half of Mrs. Jacob Phillips, asking aid from tho city, presented to tho city commlslonefs, .was withdrawn today. The mayor reported that Mr. Larkin had requested that the petition peti-tion bo not further considered Commissioner J, C. XyG of tho street department reported thnt ho had arranged for the purchnse of property belonging to Francis M. and Moroni Brown for tho opening of Twenty-ninth street, from Washington Washing-ton to Pacific avenues for $1,500 and ho recommended that the -steal be confirmed. It was so ordered and tho auditor waB authorized to draw a warrant for the amount. Commissioner Nyo also reported that he had hired Clem Martin to aid in sprinkling the streets, and ho asked ask-ed that Mr Martin bo appointed to tho position of superintendent of sprinkling and assistant strcot supervisor, su-pervisor, his salarj to bo fixed at $75 a month, and that he be allowed $15 a month, for services of a horse and wagon The recommendations wero approved and tho appointment made. Mr. Martin's term of service began April 1, and ho will hold his position at tho pleasure of tho board. It was also ordered thnt the street supervisor bo allowerl $25 a month for horso hire. |
