Show S0WANS ON A VISIT TO OGDEN W. H. WIese, wife and two daughters, daugh-ters, of Daenpqrt. Iowa, arrived from California yeste'rduy and are the guests of Wm Glasmann and family, Mrs. Wieso being a sister of tho ex-mayor. ex-mayor. The Iowans aro on their way homo after traveling from Davenport to the Panama canal and from Panama to New Orleans, thenco to Southern California, up tho coast to San Francisco Fran-cisco and on to Ogden. They havo had a delightful journey without a mishap. "Tho Panama canal," Mr. Wieso says, "Is no doubl the greatest piece of engineering work ever nttomptcd. It Is now noarlng completion and a wonderful sight- We enjoyed every moment on tho canal. "California Is a gtal state and Los Angoles a beautiful city, made more attractive, of course, by reason of tho Xact that 00.000 former residents of Iowa aro there." Mr. WIese operates a large factory in Davenport, known as tho Independent Inde-pendent Bakery company, which employs em-ploys 20 traveling salesmen and 200 factory hands and boasts of being ono of the very few cracker concerns successfully suc-cessfully competing with the National Biscuit company, commonly called the American cracker trust. The product of the WIese factory is sold all over the United States, tho "Nemo," supplied on the "Union Pacific Pa-cific dining cars out of Ogden, being one of the fancy sugar wafers which finds a ready sale. The family will remain in Ogden several days. |
