Show UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING. The University of Wyoming has ono of tho most interesting exhibits ou tho fair grounds. It Is located in tho main building and is in charge of C J, Ovlatt, assistant In the wool department de-partment at the agricultural school of tho university. Mr. Ovlatt was born in the cast good, old Michigan and camo west to grow up with the country Ho has not only grown up with the country, but "particularly with the sheep industry in the west i until he Is now- recognized as an au thority on wool and its industry. Tho exhibit which he looks after at the fair has a display of wool, representing repre-senting practjcally every breed of sheep in the world. All different grades of wool in the United States are also shown and there are samples of wool from every civilized country of the globo, whero sheep aie. raised. The different adultornnts found in cloth, such as cotton shoddy, woolen shoddy groundup rngs are shown Samples of cloth are also boiled In a twenty por cent solution of caustic potash, which eats up the wool and leaves the cotton, showing the -spectator that all pieces of cloth are not "all wool and a yard wide." Rugs, showing the sheep pelts, such as coyotes and other wild beasts ot the range,' decorate the University of Wyoming booth. There is one floeco of Lincoln wool on exhibition in this booth that weighs 13 pqunds and has a staple or 24 Inches A sheep rug, perfectly white, is also shown, with the wool eight inches thick. The booth of the University of Wyoming Wy-oming is one of the best boosts that the institution could have brought to the Four-State fair. |
