Show WM. WATTS DIES fROM INJURIES Weil-Known Ogden Man Succumbs to Injuries Received Re-ceived in Saturday Night's Auto Accident Young Miller Gives His Version of the Story. An autopsy was performed by Dr. Ezra Rich and Dr R. S. Joyce aud is was found that on tho left side of the head, the skull had been fractured for a distance of three inches, producing concussion and complete paralysis. Further investigation of the circumstances circum-stances surrounding the fatal accident acci-dent show that Mr, Watts evidently became bewildered as ho crossed the road In front of tho approaching auto. au-to. Miller, Jr., tho driver of the auto, In explanation or the accident last evening, "and tho car was not running more than ten or twelve miles an hojir. My chum, Ensign Herrick, and two other young men, whose names I do not know, wore In the auto with me. "As tho machine neared the north rnd of the bridgo I saw the man step out of tbo shadows and cross over in front of the ear. I was crossing on the side of the bridgo on which Alio car tracks are laid. The machine was probably thirty or forty feet away when he crossed over and reached the opposite side of tho street In safety, but just as he was clear of the path of the auto he stepped back. "It was Impossible to stop the car in time to keep from striking him. Tho fender did not strike his head but he fell and evidently struck on his head. None of the wheels touched him after ho fell, as I brought the auto ta a stop in timo to prevent this. Then Wo picked him up and took him to the doctor's office." It is clamed by Miller's friends that he is a careful driver and the occupants of the car corroborate tho statements of the young man regarding regard-ing the speed of tho machino and tho circumstances in connection with tho fatal accident. The remains of the auto victim were removed to the undertaking rooms of Larkin & Sons and will be held there pending arrangements for the funeral, funer-al, which will not be hold before AVod-nesday. For tho past 15 years he was engaged en-gaged In the barber business. Surviving him arc tho wife, four children, Wallace, Nellie, Howard and Lucllc: tho father, William Watts; two brothers, Gcorgo and Arthur, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Best and Mrs. Mamie Planz. |
