TWO-TBN HAUL A robbery which for audacity and daring surpasses anything In local po-lice po-lice annals, took place some tlmo on Friday night?, when practically the entire en-tire concrete laying outfit of Contractor Con-tractor Hiry Burchow, together with twenty-two sacks of cement, was stolen fe-om a lot on Twenty-eighth street, between Monroe and Qulncy. Thci missing tools and material constituted con-stituted a total weight of more than two tons. It was very evident that tho stolen articles were hauled away by the wagon load. Tho-pollco and county authorities have been working on tho case since tho robbery was committed, and it Is understood that several suspects are being held. Contractor Burchew, in view of the wholesale raid on his property, Is thankful that tho robbers did not appropriate ap-propriate the lmlf-finlshcd concrete foundation and is heartily slad that the house, had not yet been erected, for otherwise it, too, might have disappeared. dis-appeared. He has the contract for erecting a concrete foundation and the material was left in the yard overnight. When the men appeared for work Saturday morning thero was absolutely nothing left to work wltb, evon the concrete having disappeared. There was noth Ing left but a pile of sand. Among the articles taken were a wheelbarrow, mixing shovels, 110 feet of garden hose, 600 foot of lumber, numerous concreto laying tools and the 22 sacks of cement. The total loss to Contractor Burchew Is about $75. |
