Crowe, Newfoundland's lumber king, Is In 'Now York to stimulate interest in what he calls a ."larger reciprocity pact," which shall include not only the United States and Canada, but the entire British empire. Mr. Crowe bears letters from public men, both in America and England, faor-Ing faor-Ing the plan. In a statement of his purpose, he says- "The verdict of tho Canadians regarding re-garding President Taft's proposed reciprocity pact implied a strong do-sire do-sire to give tho mother country a preference ovor all other nationB, however tempting or alluring their offers may be. It would, therefore, seem wise for the United Slates, while the door is open, to enter Into a larger reciprocity pact embracing all the English-speaking peoples tho United States, Greaj Britain and all her colonies Instead of Canada alone The alliance would bo principally prin-cipally against such countries as Germany." |
