This question was presented today to the supreme court of the United States for decision. -Tho constitutionality constitu-tionality of the Indiana pure food act of 1907 was up tor-argument before the tribunal. Marlon W. Savagfc of Minnesota attacked the law as raising two standards for the manufacturer of foods and drugs entering into Interstate Inter-state commerce to obey. Ills attorneys contended that it was enough to obey the federal law, to say nothing of a state law Attorney General Bonham of Indiana, Indi-ana, In a" briot, outlined the state'.i defense. "In exercising its rights to protect porsons and property within its borders bor-ders a stato has a right to require that any article of commerce, whether wheth-er harmful or not, bo sold for just what It ia and require It to bo labeled showing of what it is composed." He said that tho Indiana law was supplemental and complcmental to tha federal law |
