Show COUNCIL PASSES LIQUOR ORDiNANCE. Adopts Minority Report Fixing Closing Hour at 10 O'Clock Sustains Mayor's Veto on Releasing the Moran Guarantee Fund City and County to Maintain Rock Crusher. , b; When the minority roport of the committee on laws and the city attorney, at-torney, made by Councilman Barker of the committee and Attorney De Vinq ut the session of the City Council last night, Councilman Dana, a member of tho committee, opposed its adoption on the ground that he thought tho time not propitious for the further consideration of the ordinance. Ho stated that he wished to go on record as favoring regulation of the liquor traffic at tho proper time, "but that he was opposed to legislation on the subject sub-ject until after the election of June 27. The other member of tho committee. com-mittee. Councilman Peery, was not present. The minority report was adopted, all members of tho council present voting In favor of It except Dana, who voted no. When It enmo up for the third and final road-Ing road-Ing it wns amended by changing tho closing hour from 9 to 10 o'clock p.m. The motion to amend the ordinance to close at 10 o'clock was made by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Larson, and it was finally carried by a unanimous vote. Urged 7 o'clock Closing. President Browning offered an amendment to the amendment which provided that the saloons close at 7 o'olock p.m. rather than 9 o'clock. Ho called Councilman Austin to the chair and addressed the council in support of his motion. He stateJ that he fully bellevod that the people of the city doslred restriction of the saloon busl ness and that If there was going to be restriction, it should be of the right kind. A resolution was passed authorizing tho opening of Twenty-ninth street, between Washington and Paclfia avenues, and the engineer was Instructed In-structed to make plans and specifications specifica-tions of tho street. Mayor's Veto Sustained. Mayor Glasmann's veto of the action ac-tion of the council of a week ago authorizing the releasing of the guarantee guar-antee fund of the P. J. Moran company com-pany for paving of a few years ago, was sustained by a vote of G to 3 Those voting to sustain the Mayor wore Browning, Humphrls, Austin, Larson, Wilson, nnd Dana, those opposed op-posed being Dickson, Flygare, nnd Barker. The amount involved wns $1,222 17. Tho matter of purchasing an auto-patrol auto-patrol conveyance, recommendod by the polico committee, was turned over to that committee with Instructions to negotiate The recommendations of the public buildings and grounds committee that the pest house be repaired, under the direction of the sanitary Inspector, was adopted. City and County Rock Crusher. The buildings and grounds committee commit-tee reported that it would not bo advisable ad-visable for the city to dispose of Its rock crusher and tho report was unanimously un-animously adopted Councilman Wilson moved that the matter of establishing es-tablishing the rock crusher at tho foot of the mountains east of the city and tho prisoners bo put to work thero crushing rock for the streets, and, also, that the city co-operate with tho county In a Joint effort In the rock-crushing rock-crushing business, 'was carried without with-out a dissenting vote.
