Show INQUEST HELD IN CONRAD TRAGEDY I s GREAT FALLS, Mont, May 11 The inquest over the body of Joseph Hamilton, who was killed while trying try-ing to capture blackmailers who robbed rob-bed the graveyard of tho remains of tho Conrad baby, failed to throw any now light on the tragedy, the jury returning a verdict that Hamilton came to his death from bullet wounds caused by persons unknown. Arthur and Harfleld Conraa, vho presumably fired the shots which killed Hamilton, told of tho events which led up to the shooting in connection con-nection with their efforts to catch tfte grave robbers. Their story did not vary particii; larly from that already told, but both insisted that the man they fired at raised his gun as if to shoot. Interesting Inter-esting testimony was given by the members of an automobile party which passed along the road Jua.t before be-fore the Conrads did. They came upon up-on the lantern at the side of the road, and as they came up they saw a man near It. As tho automobile approached the man slipped to his hands and lenees, and evidently was trying to crawl off without being seen. Further along they came upon what looked like a bull's eye lantern. This was evidently the same light that the Conrad toya took for the signal when they dropped the supposed sup-posed bag of gold. Furthor evidence showed that shortly after the shooting shoot-ing of Hamilton this sack was carried away, and it has not since been found Further searah today failed to reveal any trace of tho body snatchcrs. no |
