Show ORGANIZE HOME INDUSTRY CLUB Definite steps toward the organization organiza-tion of an Ogden branch of the Utah Home industry association were taken yesterday when 25 housewives mot at the home of Mrs. J. S. Carver, 541 Twonty-second street and discussed plans for carrying on a home industry campaign. The homo industry club will probably prob-ably be fully organized uext Friday when Mrs. Olive Havens, of Salt Lake and president of the state organization, organiza-tion, will visit the city and attend a meeting of tho ladles at tho Weber club Those jn attendance at yesterday's yester-day's meotlng showed great enthusiasm enthus-iasm in the movement and a voiy large attendance is expected at the Friday meeting J. 3. Carver, chairman of tho Utah pure food bureau, responded to a request re-quest to address the meeting yesterday yester-day and Simeon Jensen, manager ot the Ogden Packing & Provision company, com-pany, and Manager Allen of the Western West-ern Bottling company, were also present. pres-ent. In his talk to the housewives Mr Carver sought to show how through their organization and example for other housewives they might bring about a marked saving in the cost of living. One Important point he said was the co-operation with the retail grocer In the matter of running expenses, ex-penses, putting much omphasls on tho saving to bo made by purchasing goods in tho largest possible quantities. Mr. Carver gave as his Illustration that of the delivery system He Baid that for example he would state that thp average cost of maintaining two delivery outfits was five cents per order. or-der. This malntalnance cost, ho explained, ex-plained, applied to the 50-cent order Just the same as the $10 order and ho argued that If, by ordering goods In larger quantities, tho retail grocer could cut down his operating expenses fjoui say 1G per cent to 10 per cent, the consumer would derive tho benefit bene-fit This was only ono of the many poiuts brought out by the state official of-ficial on tho subject of educating the consumer along the lines of economical economic-al buying These subjects and inuny others will be taken up and discussed by local members and state officials of the Home Industry organization after tho branch here has been fully organized.
