Show Local U. P. Athletes Bring Home Honors 2 in Natl Contests Milford athletes of the Union Pacific Pa-cific system are home from the Cheyenne Chey-enne meet, where they won laurels (or themselves and favorable publicity pub-licity for Milford. The L. A. & S. L.' unit of the Union Pacific system traveled in a special train to Cheyenne to participate in the field and track meet which the Union Pacific system holds each vear. The special train was made up of one baggage car, which was used as a dance hall and in fine end of which was a refreshment counter. The floor was planed and waxed and music was furnished by the Los Angeles An-geles band and a piano. The next car was the Milford Pullman, which was loaded to capacity with contestants contest-ants and fans. The next three cars were loaded with Los Angeles contestants con-testants and fans and one car was occupied by the Los Angeles band. The sixth car was an observation car. On arriving at Cheyenne the band from Cheyenne welcomes the L. A. & S. L. delegation with music and thousands of people were at the station sta-tion to welcome the visitors, whom it had been learned were coming in style. On Monday at 1 p. m. a parade was formed, with three bands and all the different units of the system sys-tem marched in groups, the L. A. & S. L. being the largest and the ous which received the most applause. On the field and track the Union Pacific received 154 points; the L. A. & S. L. received 115 points, th ; 0. S. L. 90 points and the O. W. R. & N., 50 points. The athletes from Milford won more than their share, Ward winning win-ning four medals, Banks four, Bow-den Bow-den two and Schow two. The best record made at the meet was that made by Ward and' Banks, who higli jumped six feet one Inch and six feet, respectively. Ray Banks also I made a record broad jump of 20 feet eight inches. Ward took second in the shot put, with a put of 39 feet eight inches. Schow, Banks, Bowden.and Ward also won many points in relays and, other events. The L. A. & S. L. baseball team, 'rom Los Angeles won the system championship by defeating Omaha and Seattle. Milford won more points than any pother town with as few contestants. After the meet on Tuesday a banquet ban-quet was given to officers and contestants con-testants at the Masonic home and, over four hundred were seated.
