Show Woman Thrown From Buggy Injured By Reckless Driver While riding in a buggy, accompanied accom-panied by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. James Yardley, and two of hor little children, Mrs. Frank Smith was thrown out when the buggy was struck by a speeding automobile occupied oc-cupied by three Cedar City boys, and both bones of her right leg were broken at the ankle joint. She was taken to the home of Lew Griffith, a doctor called and her husband summoned. sum-moned. The "fracture was reduced and late in the evening she was removed re-moved to her home where she is resting rest-ing as comfortably as can be expected. expect-ed. The accident occured as the party was returning from Mr. Yardley's ranch south west of Beaver and according ac-cording to the story, as told by men who were standing nearby, an auto was parked on the main highway through "Jackson County" and several sev-eral men were in it or standing by it. Mr. Yardley turned out and passed pass-ed it and when directly in front of the parked car the fast driven Cedar City car attempted to pass from thp rear, going betwen 5 and 60 miles per hour. The reckless driver had not seen Mr. Yardley's buggy, neither had he seen the culvert which he must either crash into or cross. He tried to cross and in doing so struck the buggy, smashing one wheel and throwing Mrs. Smith and one of the children out. The child was badly bruised and cut but not seriously Injured. In-jured. The team started to run and was with" some difficulty gotten under control. Mrs. Yardley received receiv-ed several bruises and ruts on her legs and body. The boys with car which caused the damage stopped and rendered all the assistance possible and expressed much sorrow at the results of their fast driving. I |
