Show IN THE PUBLIC EYE Mil ford Is gradually taking on greater significance upstate and In the population centers of our neighboring states. Several months ago State Editor Carver of the Salt Lake Tribune told us, "We haven't been paying enough attention to Milford send ! us all the news about the town that i you think would be of interest to ! our readers. We want to give more i space to Milford." Since then, we've sent Mr. Carver Car-ver many columns of "copy" about our community, and most of it has been printed. Editor Glenn Perrins of tha Ogden Standard-Examiner requested request-ed a feature story about Milford and printed several columns about us. When we interviewed a national manufacturer recently, in San Bernardino, Calif., relative to establishing es-tablishing a Milford plant to package pack-age and distribute an every-day necessity, we found our town was well known to the president of the multi-million dollar concern. He spent the greater part of an afternoon after-noon with us, and we were later told that he was so impressed with the possibilities of Milford as a manufacturing and distributing point that we could be assured of a plant here in the very near future. Latest significant "pointer" to the fact that Milford is to become much more important, is the visit pf the Governor of our state, Herbert Her-bert B. Maw, at a time when his presence in the state capital is important to his legislative program. pro-gram. Governor Maw made the trip to Milford to get first-hand information on the desires of the citizens regarding the form of government gov-ernment they preferred. Milford should realize and appreciate the honor. Now comes word that Milford will soon be visited by a specialist, connected with the National Association Asso-ciation of Manufacturers, who will urvcy the community and advise us "what to do" to make our town an ideal site for small manufacturing manufactur-ing plants. If the official is "sold" on Milford as a manufacturing cen-.( cen-.( r, we will be placed on the asso-i asso-i ition's list of "good locations," and there's no doubt that we soon .'ill enjrjy the increased business I hat comes from industries. I ! e the drink so popular in other j "Irs. Milford is getting "in the public eye." |
