Show Range Bulls in Minersville Herds Are Improved Grading of range bulls is proving a highly desirable practice in Beaver Beav-er county. This fact is apparent from reports recently submitted by George R. Henderson, extension animal husbandman, who did the grading. Bulls were first graded at Minersville Min-ersville in 1944. At that time 50 per cent of the bulls graded below B and no bulls rated an A. In comparison, only 10 per cent of the bulls graded at Minersville last spring were below the B grade. There were also several A grade bulls in the community. This indicates a remarkable improvement im-provement in the type of range j hulls used in tho Minersville herds, j The same improvements could be brought about thruout the county, 'according to County Agent Hyrum iSteffcn, by following a similar grading program. Where grading has been done thruout the state, definite improvements have been noted. Within a short time stock-jir.en stock-jir.en begin to discuss bulls in terms of grade and are more careful in making purchases. Grading also eliminates friction between cattlemen due to poor type bulls being turned on the range, the county agent pointed out. |
