Show Legion Elects Young Vets Veterans of the first World War passed on to veterans of the second sec-ond World War the honors and duties of conducting American Legion Le-gion activities in Milford for the coming year at an election of officers offi-cers last Monday night. Stephen A. Williams was named commander, Allen Bingham, first vice commander; Don C. Watts, second vice commander; Warren Thompson, sergeant-at-arms; Richard Rich-ard Johnson, athletic officer, and Clarence McWhorter, adjutant. All are World War II veterans. Legionnaires serving in World War I, named to office to provide "leavening" influence and assist the new officers in their duties, include in-clude Vernon M. Burns, finance officer; J. M. Hughes, chaplain; Sam Cline, service officer, an' Teddy Kronholm, liaison officer, with C. R. Grimshaw retained as historian. Teddy Kronholm was named chairman of a committee to arrange ar-range a dutch 'lunch for the latter part of August, in American Legion park, to which all Western Beaver County veterans will be invited. Other activities planned for the immediate future include organization organiza-tion of a drill team and firing squad, under the direction and tutelage of Allen Bingham, and a drum and bugle corps, to be organized or-ganized by one of Milford's musically music-ally inclined veterans. A "49-er" celebration also is planned for late October. a |
