Show Evangelist Gives Reason For Belief In answer to repeated questions as to his belief, Evangelist Norman Nor-man Eckman Sunday night spoke on the topic "Why I Am a Seventh Sev-enth Day Adventist" as one of the l series of Bible Chautauqua lectures lec-tures at the Milford Firemen's ! hall. Perhaps of all the questions asked during this series of meetings, meet-ings, the question answered by Mr. Eckman Sunday night was the outstanding one. "The name Seventh Sev-enth Day Adventist," he said, denotes de-notes clearly a two-fold belief: First, that we believe in the very soon advent of Jesus Christ, which is definitely placed in our generation genera-tion by the prophecies of Daniel 2 and also of Matthew 24. 'Seventh Day' in the name shows that we worship on Saturday, the seventh day of the week, which is the only day which the Bible sets aside as God's rest day, or the Sabbath made holy," continued the speaker. speak-er. He said that many people claimed this day to be made only for the Jews. To this point he asked his audience the pointed questions: "Was Adam a Jew? Was Enoch a Jew? Was Joseph a Jew?" To these questions the audience answered in the negative. nega-tive. Then Mr. Eckman showed conclusively that as early as twenty-five hundred years before the Jewish dispensation the Sahbath was created and was kept by these men mentioned. To the list of Sabbath-keeping Bible characters ho added David, Paul and Jesus Christ and His disciples. "This great rest day," he said, "has a special blessing in it because be-cause God made the Sabbath for man and hallowed it." Last Friday night Mr- Eckman gave his closing lecture of the series. The topic was, "God's Last Warning Message To the World." The evangelist will continue his Bible class one night a week, and also in a few weeks will announce an-nounce special Sunday night lectures. lec-tures. Mr. Caleb Davidian, who has assisted with the meetings and especially with the music, will continue with the evangelist here in Milford. o |
