Show Jottings From The Beaver CCC Camp By Cyril "Pep" Johnson Farewell Friendship is one of the greatest thipga that is attainable to any human being. True friendship is also one of the very hardest things J .... to acquire. We believe that it safe for us to say that the people of Milford and surrounding towns have shown a very marked friendship toward us members of C C C Company 194 and we take this opportunity to show our appreciation for their kindness. We sincerely thank the people of Milford and also wish them great success in attaining their desired de-sired hopes in life. It is with the deepest of regrets that we bid Milford adieu. Sports The C's nine played the Beaver nine Saturday, June 29 and kinda got took. The score, 6 to 3, shows that the C C C's put up a good fight. The C's have a good ball club; all they need to show the Beaver team that they are not so slow is a little practice. Chris Chesley, third baseman for the C's, made the first home run of the season in Beaver- More power to you, Chris; that is just one beer that the company clerk owes you. Don (Chock) Overly was the C's shining star. Chock played shortstop short-stop until the 6th inning, when he started catching in place of Nick i Nichols, who, from the 6th inning, played center field. Fred (Spike) Taylor did the pitching and showed everybody that he had something. Birthday Party On July 23, Company 1964 will be one year old and on that date the company will give a party in " "j " Beaver. All plans have not been drawn up yet, but Milford has a special invitation to the big free dance to be given that night. Company 1964 came to life July 23, 1934, under Captain James M. Walker and is still captioned by him- The company is officered by Lieutenant Einar M. Bergstrom and Doctor G. C. Arvin is still the camp surgeon. Here's hoping Company 1964 can keep these officers. of-ficers. At last the company is nearly settled in its new home in the Beaver Bea-ver mountains. All sleeping quarters are up and the men all " settled. There is still a recreation building to be put up, but with the completion of this one building, the camp is complete. Although most of the boys like their new home "up in the hills," a lot of them wish they were still out on the desert We don't know what the desert has, but It still holds a fascination. A CCC Boy Complains: While in town I saw a sign in a restaurant, restau-rant, "Ladies Served Here." I went in and ordered a snappy blond. They threw me out. There are three great menaces to safe driving in Ameerica today: Hie, hike and hug. Everglade. |
