Show OLD KING DAVID CLAIM WORKED FOR RICH ZINC DEPOSITE; ORE HAULINGS TO BEGIN WITH LETTING OF CONTRACTS As soon as contracts for trucking can be made, The Frisco Silver Lead Mining Company will begin ore shipments ship-ments to the United States Smelting and Refining Company in Salt Lake, according to an announcement made yesterday by L. B. Glafcke who is overseeing ov-erseeing the workings of the leases of the company as well as his own. The leases are located near New-house New-house and though they were opened three years ago, hitches in the company's com-pany's plans have held up their active operation until the present date. Valuable Zinc Deposits There are at present 300 tons of zinc-lead ore and fifteen tons of silver-lead ready for the first shipment. The zinc-lead has been taken out of the double barrel drift of the King David which is held on lease by the Frisco Silver Lead Company and which assays at 35 per cent zinc and 8 to 12 per cent lead. This zinc ore is sulphide not carbonate and will probably prob-ably attract the attention of the paint companies as it is particularly valuable valu-able as a basis in paint making. The zinc deposits are rich in the mine, near the surface and the fissures are from four to four and a half inches thick. Silver-Lead Assays High The silver-lead ore that is being taken out of the Humbug and the Humbug number one held on lease by Mr. Glafcke is rated 95 and 100 ore and is also easily available. There are indications of copper in all nine claims that are to be operated by the Frisco Silver Lead Mining Company. The claims unquestionably contain exceedingly rich deposits as was verified veri-fied by Robert Boutwell, mining engineer en-gineer and geologist of Salt Lake City whose reputation in 'the profession is extensive and who at one time was associated with the U. S. Geological Survey. Mr. Boutwell recently visited visit-ed the Frisco Lead Silver workings and commented on their richness of deposit. On his tour of the Frisco mining district he also expressed the opinion that it contains the richest deposits in Utah and that the future is bright for the locality. Daily Haulings Planned It is probable that hauling contracts will be drawn up within several clays and then it is the intention of Mr. Glafcke to send out daily trackings to Fiasco where the ore will be loaded on cars for shipment to Salt Lake City. He has lately returned from Salt Lake City where he made arrangements ar-rangements with the Union Pacific to handle th shipments and where he conferred with L. F. Block, president of the mining company. |
