Show MILFORD FIVE BEAT FILMORE INVADERS Coach Melbourne Heslington's week of intensive training of his team showed results when Milford High School beat Filmore 22 to 17 Saturday night in the fastest game played this season on the home court. When the game opened it looked as if Filmoe had an air tight defense and that Milford would have a tough proposition to handle if it intended to whip the invaders, but a few shots from midfield on the part of local boys seemed to demoralize Filmore. They began to loosen their defense, moving forward and the Milford men, seizing the opportunity, found the holes and from then on, Filmore's defensive de-fensive organization ceased to be a problem. Besides showing considerable head work, accuracy in passing and throwing throw-ing baskets, Heslington's aggregation also demonstrated an improvement in defensive work that offers bright possibilities pos-sibilities for the rest of the season. Filmore, though weakened in defensive defen-sive work, continued to offer a strong attack throughout the game and up to the last minute of play the teams kept the crowd that packed the gymnasium in an uproar. Heslington launched his attack with Horton, Hickman, Killam, Easton and Andrews. Toward the end of the game he substituted Griffiths, taking Killam out; but Killa mwas soon sore-Killam sore-Killam out; but Killam was soon sore-tinue sore-tinue his excellent wok on the court. Hickman held scoring honors when statistics were compiled at the end of the game with Horton following closely- Cooper, Carling, George, Hatton and Callister worked for Filmore through the entire game, Carling doing do-ing the heavy scoring. Next league game will be played here Saturday with Hinckley. |
