Show A Spelling Game Here is an excellent game for improving im-proving one's spelling. Some one looks through the dictionary diction-ary and selects about 20 words not long ones, but those which appear most .suitable for the game. It is best to get mother or some grownup to choose the words. Then she writes them upon a piece of paper, missing either the first or the last letter of each. Study this list of "lame" words, ami then write them down as quickly as possible, adding the missing letters. The player who can do this most swiftly and correctly wins the game. Such words as abate, which becomes be-comes bate, or about, which becomes bout, are really quite simple. Naturally Nat-urally the "grownup" does not choose all the words from the A's, as that would make it far too easy. Instead She might turn to the M and write moo, which is a lame mood ; or moo being a lame monk. P gives pro, which is really prop; tie, which Is really tier, comes from amongst the T's. Being wise he will mix them, so that you will not know what the first letter may be, or whether you have to find an initial or a final letter. A certain time say, ten minutes or a quarter of an hour may be allowed for making the words, but when some one hands up a correct copy the game is finished. |
